casa NUR
Casa NUR is a three-level residence in Curridabat designed for a family of three.
The name NUR was inspired by our clients’ daughter — it means light. This concept became the heart of the project: a home that breathes with nature, capturing the energy of the sun and the wind to transform it into well-being.
It is a contemporary refuge that celebrates family life, harmony with the environment, and the beauty of simplicity.
For that reason, we applied natural ventilation and lighting design strategies to bring this vision to life.

casa palma
Casa Palma is nestled in the heart of Ojochal, Puntarenas, envisioned as a serene retreat that balances guest comfort with the joy of inhabiting each space.
From the main entrance, the home presents a modest, private façade that gradually opens into expansive double-height spaces in the living room, dining area, and entry hall. These volumes invite natural light and cross-ventilation, creating an atmosphere that feels both open and grounded.
The layout unfolds in an elegant L-shape, seamlessly linking the kitchen, BBQ area, and pool. This configuration encourages fluid movement between indoor and outdoor living spaces, with integrated terraces acting as thresholds that dissolve the boundary between home and nature.
Casa Palma features three spacious bedrooms, each with its own private terrace and en-suite bathroom, offering personal sanctuaries with direct access to the tropical surroundings. A media room or family lounge is tucked into the most private area of the house, perfect for quiet moments and intimate gatherings.
The concept behind “Palma” arises from the owners’ admiration for the graceful, upward growth of the Costa Rican palm, a tree that is also abundant on the property. This natural presence inspired the name, symbolizing resilience, simplicity, and the quiet strength of nature.

casa las americas
This house was conceived as an investment opportunity for the client, designed specifically for short-term vacation rentals. The layout balances comfort and functionality within a compact footprint, offering two bedrooms and thoughtfully arranged living spaces that prioritize both usability and security for future guests.

On the upper floor, a more private TV lounge offers a cozy retreat, enhancing the sense of separation between social and intimate spaces.
The design focuses on delivering a safe, efficient, and enjoyable experience for guests, while maintaining the architectural character and climate responsiveness suited to the region.

casa las nubes
Nestled in the mountains of Coronado, this residence was designed to fully embrace its natural surroundings. The concept centers on opening the home toward the landscape—every space is oriented to capture sweeping views of the mountains, while maximizing natural ventilation and daylight throughout.
A key desire from the clients was to frame the majestic Coronado mountains and the vibrant sunsets. To achieve this, certain spaces, such as the living room, were designed with double-height volumes, creating a sense of openness and visual connection with the horizon.
The house features five bedrooms, a swimming pool, and a private gym. A series of landscaped gardens wrap around the property, forming a contemplative pathway that links the different living spaces with nature, encouraging a continuous dialogue between architecture and the site.

San José housing reactivation competition
This project was developed as part of a design competition aimed at revitalizing the urban core of San José—particularly in areas where limited program diversity and spatial fragmentation have contributed to a rise in insecurity and underutilization.
The proposal seeks to reintroduce a mix of uses into the neighborhood, promoting vibrancy and safer public environments through thoughtful programmatic layering. The strategy includes ground-level commercial spaces to activate the street, office spaces on the second floor to support daytime activity, and residential units on the third and fourth floors to ensure ongoing presence and use throughout the day and night.
A key element of the design is the integration of nearby park corridors, which are used as connective public axes to enhance pedestrian circulation and social interaction. By diversifying the program and extending urban life into multiple timeframes, the project fosters a more resilient, inclusive, and secure urban setting.
